Unique 3D Modern Crochet Stitch
The unique 3D texture of the pattern gives the blanket its cozy, distinctive quality, perfect for snuggling a precious little one for a cozy nap. But as we dive deeper into the structure of this crochet stitch, you’ll learn that there was more to it than just its stunning appearance.

The raised stitches create small air pockets within the fabric, which help to trap and retain heat. This not only makes the blanket incredibly warm and cozy, but also provides a comfortable, breathable environment for the baby’s delicate skin.
Of course, for the warmer time of the year, you can use cotton yarn. As a result, you can crochet a cozy throw or a stroller blanket.

Materials
Each skein of this light (3) yarn had 446 yds/408 m, 5 oz/141 g. It is 100% acrylic Snuggly Wuggly yarn by Loops & Threads, which is currently discontinued. So, you can use any other light-weight yarn (3) in acrylic, cotton, or other natural fibers. The closest match was Baby Soft Blanket Yarn by Lion Brand.
Note, for the original project, we used 474 g of yarn, which comes to 3.3 skeins. So, if you wish, you can add a border around the whole blanket to use up all 4 skeins. Otherwise, consider these small and quick crochet projects for leftover yarn:
Gauge for ‘My Sunshine’ Baby Blanket
Though gauge is more important for wearable crochet creations, it is important to check your gauge by creating a small practice swatch. Firstly, it is a great way to learn and practice the stitch before you start the blanket. Secondly, by staying close to the same gauge, you’ll ensure you use the same amount of yarn for your finished project.
So, for this blanket, the 4″ x 4″ (approximately 10 cm x 10 cm) square will have 19 stitches and 18 rows. As everyone’s crochet tension is different, you can go up or down one crochet hook size (to 4.25 mm/ 3.75 mm) to adjust your gauge.
