Foundation Chain
CH 5, SL ST into the first CH to close the loop. Alternatively, you can make a magic ring.
Row 1
CH3 (counts as 1st DC), DC 15 times into CH SP, SL ST into the turning CH – 16 sts.
Row 2
CH3 (counts as DC), DC into the same stitch, *2 DC into the next ST*, repeat between ** 4 times – 12 DC.
Row 3
CH3 (counts as DC), DC into the same stitch, *2 DC into the next ST*, repeat between ** 10 times (the last 2 DCs are into the turning CH) – 24 DC.
Fasten off and cut off the yarn leaving ~ 5″ tail end. You have finished to crochet angel wings.
Row 4
First, find the middle of your work on row 3. Move 3 stitches to the right – this is where you’d start the next row. Make a slip knot.
CH 3 (counts as 1st DC), DC into the same stitch. *2 DC into the next ST*, repeat between ** 5 times – 14 DC.
Row 5
CH 3, *sk 1st DC st, DC+CH1+DC (V-ST)* into the space between DC stitches of the previous row, repeat 6 times, DC into the turning CH – 7 V-STs.
Row 6
This row will be the row of DOUBLE V-Stitches. So, instead of 1 DC you’ll make 2 DCs into the same CH-SP.
CH 3, *sk 1st DC st, 2DC+CH2+2DC (DOUBLE V-ST)* into the CH SP*, repeat 6 times, DC into the turning CH – 7 DOUBLE V-STs.
Row 7
Lastly, we’ll do another row of increases to complete the body of our crochet angel.
CH 3, *sk 1st DC st, DC into the next st, 2DC+CH1+2DC (DOUBLE V-ST) into CH SP, DC into the next st*, repeat 6 times, DC into the turning CH – 7 TRIPPLE V-STs.
Finally, CH 2, HDC into the BLO to put the final touches on the angel’s garment. Continue with HDC all around. Next, SL ST ‘the skirt’ together to make your angel stand. Cut off the yarn, fasten it off, and use a tapestry needle weave in all the yarn ends.

Row 4
CH4 (counts as DC+CH1), *DC+CH1 into the next ST*, DC into the turning CH – 24 DC, 23 CH SP.
Fasten off and cut off the yarn leaving ~ 5″ tail end. As illustrated, this extra row gives our crochet angel slightly bigger wings. Next, find the middle of the last row to start working on Angel’s garment.
Row 5 (the first row of the garment)
So, you’ve found the middle of the last row of wings. Place a stitch marker in the CH SP. Now, move 3 more CH SPs to the right – place a stitch maker. Here you’ll start the next row.
Make a slip knot, CH 3 into the marked CH SP (counts as 1st DC), DC into the same CH SP. *2 DC into the next CH SP*, repeat between ** 5 times – 14 DCs.
Row 6
Next, we’ll make 7 V-STs.
CH 3, *sk 1st DC st, DC+CH1+DC (V-ST)* into the space between DC stitches of the previous row, repeat 6 times, DC into the turning CH – 7 V-STs.
Row 7
This row will be the row of DOUBLE V-Stitches. So, instead of 1 DC you’ll make 2 DCs separated with 1 CH into the same CH-SP.
CH 3, *sk 1st DC st, 2DC+CH1+2DC (DOUBLE V-ST)* into the CH SP*, repeat 6 times, DC into the turning CH – 7 DOUBLE V-STs.
As a result, you can see how the angel’s garment is growing with each row. Relax, we are almost done – 3 more rows to go!
Row 8
In brief, the difference between rows 7 and 8 is an extra CH1 separating V-STs. Also, the first DC of the V-ST is made on the top of the DC of the previous row, not a CH SP.
CH 3, *sk 1st DC st, DC into the next ST, DC+CH2+DC into the CH SP, DC into the next ST, CH1*, repeat 6 times, DC into the turning CH – 7 DOUBLE V-STs.
Row 9
CH 3, *sk 1st DC st, DC into the next ST, 2 DCs+CH2+2 DCs into the CH SP*, repeat 6 times, DC into the turning CH.
Row 10
CH 3, *sk 1st DC st, 2 DC into the next 2 STs, 2 DCs+CH1+2 DCs into the CH SP*, repeat 6 times, DC into the turning CH.
Finishing touches
Lastly, to make your Angel’s garment look neat, let’s make a border row of HDC stitches on both sides. Now you are ready to stitch it together and weave in all the yarn ends.
At the same time, you can use any starch-based fabric spray (easily found in the laundry area of any store) to stiffen up your crocheted angels. As it is a 3-D creation, spraying it will help the crochet angel to stand straight.
