Also, drawing is a craft that doesn’t require expensive supplies. Most importantly, you don’t need anything to start, besides a pencil, pen, and paper. Furthermore, you can put scrap paper to good use practicing flower drawing.

1. Flower Drawing Exercise

flower drawing exercise

Let’s do the first exercise on our road to beautiful flower drawings: shapes and lines.

  • Firstly, draw a dot.
  • Second, draw lines coming out of this dot in all directions.
  • Lastly, put a smaller dot at the end of each line.
  • Hooray – you’ve created a dandelion flower drawing. It was pretty easy!

Next, try another exercise to work on your lines. Firstly, draw any shape. Second, put a bigger dot somewhere in the middle of that shape. Third, try to draw lines coming out of that dot and going all the way to the line.

Don’t worry if your lines are not perfect – ours aren’t! On the contrary, perfection can harm your flower drawing. Uniquely, the imperfection brings your flower drawing to life.

2. Hibiscus Flower Drawing – Easy

Hibiscus Flower Drawing - Easy

Drawing a delicate hibiscus can seem complicated, but let’s break the exercise into simple steps. However, the hibiscus drawing is a popular choice due to its tropical vibe, vibrant colors, and intricate details. However, many people shy away from attempting to draw it, thinking it is too complex.

Of course, drawing a realistic hibiscus flower is complicated, but we will explore a simplified version. Also, it is perfect for easy and relaxing flower doodles in your bujo. Here are the steps:

  • First, start with a big dot.
  • Second, draw 4-5 petals of different shapes (follow the example).
  • Third, define the shape of the petals by drawing multiple lines that start in the middle.
  • Lastly, when you are satisfied with the petals’ shape and structure, draw the hibiscus flower’s central stamen.

3. Rose Flower Drawing (simplified)

Through years of practice and experimentation, we developed a foolproof method for drawing a rose with just a few easy steps. Of course, we’ll share it with you, and you’ll see how easy it is, especially when you keep practicing.

Firstly, start with a circle or oval. Second, draw an imperfect square (refer to the example). Third, start drawing lines (as shown with the dotted line in the example), creating the petals of your rose. To emphasize, your lines should be wiggly, not straight, which gives your rose its beauty.

Next, let’s add a few petals around the main circle/oval. Lastly, it is time to fill the spaces between the roses with leaves. Divide each leaf with a central line and add parallel lines to both parts. Also, the shading adds dimension to your drawing, so the roses stand out.

Keep practicing by creating ovals of different sizes. As a result, you’ll have a beautiful rose garden you’ve created yourself!

This is another example of simplified rose drawing, which uses simple circles, ovals, imperfect rectangles, and curved lines. We used Micron Pens of different sizes for this drawing.

  1. Start with a few circles that define the size of the roses and spread them on the page.
  2. Draw an imperfect rectangle inside the circle.
  3. Using curved lines, draw smaller and smaller rectangles, creating a spiral.
  4. Finish by shading the center of your rose.

Also, you can start with a circle and a triangle, as illustrated by the example below. Comparatively, a rectangle/square works better for a more realistic rose doodle.

Additionally, try this method for easy rose drawing, following the simple steps below:

  1. First, start with a wiggly circle, which defines the center of the rose.
  2. Second, draw a curved line on either side of the circle to form the petal (follow the example with dotted lines).
  3. Next, continue drawing petals using wiggly lines, starting each petal in the middle of the previous one and going in a spiral.
  4. Lastly, stop when your rose is the desired size. Also, it is nice to have a few roses of different sizes for a flower arrangement.
